Sand Dunes

Another hot Mallee day, Kaye, Patti, Margie and I hung around the milk bar and had spiders and ice creams in an attempt to keep cool. We finished our treats and after much discussion decided to ride out to the sand dunes.

We all rushed home and collected our bikes and met back at the milk bar.

We headed out of town for about half an hour to the sand dunes. It was very strange to us living in the Mallee to have wonderful pristine white sand dunes near our town with no sea there.

We parked our bikes and ran up to the top of the highest sand dune and then rolled down laughing like maniacs, we did this time and time again and ended up staying for a couple of hours. We also wrote messages in the sand which disappeared as soon as we finished which amused us very much.

The simple pleasure of just having fun and enjoying being a kid has lived with me ever since.
